On 9/9/2001 Hewitt took a U.S. Open title over American Pete Sampras and two days later New York, America, and the world would never be the same. Terrorists attacks on the largest city in the U.S. sent a chill down everyone's spine and put things back into perspective.
Today the U.S. Open plays on with one of tennis' fiercest competitors looking to move on and seize his first U.S. Open title. Nadal is fighting through a nagging knee injury and an admoninal injury yet he continues to fight through these pains on a quest towards a U.S. Open title. Everyone in New York will be remembering this day today whether they are on wall street or Flushing Meadows. But like Nadal and all great champions New York fights on and will continue to prosper. All of the victims from the terrorist attack on the greatest country in the world will always be remembered and this day will never be forgotten.
